Hydrology Design Problem 1 - Determine stormwater runoff from a watershed:

Given a 600'x600' rural parcel of pasture land located in Region 1, determine the 10 year stormwater discharge to size a culvert that will be located on the SE corner of the property. Use the Steel formula and rational method to determine Q.
1.
From the hydrology submenu open the overland flow time of concentration calculation, TcOverland.aspx. Input the "Title" of the calculation, the "Designer/Checker" information and the variables.  Next open the reference tables and determine the intercept coefficient, k for pasture land. Next enter the remaining variables and click on the "Calculate" button. Read the results. The time of concentration, Tc is 28.63 minutes.

2.
From the hydrology submenu open up the Steel Formula rainfall calculation, Rainfall.aspx. Input the "Title" of the calculation, the "Designer/Checker" information and the variables. The table on the calculation has the variables for Region 1 and a 10 year storm. Click on the "Calculate" button and read the results. The rainfall intensity is 4.642 in/hr.

3.
From the hydrology submenu, open up the rational method discharge calculation, Rat.aspx. Input the "Title" of the calculation, the "Designer/Checker" information. Open up the reference table and determine the runoff coefficient, C. Input the variables, click on the "Calculate" button and read the results. The stormwater discharge is 0.575 cfs.

4. Summary
The discharge for a 10 year storm from this 600' x 600' parcel of pasture land located in region 1 is 0.575 cfs.
